Terris Moore and Katrina Hincks Moore papers, 1908-1995.

The Terris Moore Papers consist of records documenting both his personal and professional lives. Materials include family papers and photographs; correspondence and photographs from his service as President at University of Alaska from 1949-1953; research notes, drafts, and manuscripts of his articles and publications; and correspondence, photographs, and writings pertaining to his many mountaineering and aviation expeditions in Alaska and around the world. The Katrina Hincks Moore papers consist of notes, drafts, correspondence, and clippings pertaining to her translations, published articles as well as her biography about Terris Moore titled "Borestone to Bering Strait". The major writing project represented in the collection consists of a series of translations dealing with the coastal exploration of Alaska by Spain in the period 1775-1796. Her other writings include a translation of Emile Petitot's description of the Yukon River in 1870, various articles about traveling through northern regions, as well as a variety of other topics. Her papers also include a few photographs and portions of her diaries, the most complete of which chronicles a trip to Spain and England in the summer of 1922 when she was thirteen.

Francisco Antonio Mourelle de la Rua was born in 1750 at San Adrian de Corme. As a Spanish naval officer and explorer, he served in his country's Navy in the Guyanas, Trinidad, and the Antilles. He was known for his voyage in 1775 around the northcoast of North America. He later returned on another expedition further north in 1779 to the head of the Gulf of Alaska.
